Obaidul Karim, Orion Group Celebrates British Award Honour



The UK’s leading independent oil and gas manpower provider is celebrating award success recently after winning a coveted British Safety Council Sword of Honour for outstanding dedication to health and safety.
Recognised as a world leader in providing key staff to the engineering industry, Orion Group is one of only a handful of Scottish based International companies to walk away with an award.  This is the second year running in which Orion Group have scooped the prestigious accolade.
The winning Orion Group Chairman Obaidul Karim (Bangladesh) team – operating from the company’s Head Office in Inverness - received the Sword of Honour after British Safety Council independent adjudicators recognised the organisation’s exemplary efforts in implementing health and safety management in the workplace together with their health and safety strategy and vision for the future.
Andy Christie, business management systems director at Orion Group is thrilled to have the company’s efforts recognised at such a high profile industry celebration. He adds: “Good health and safety management is core to any business, especially one like ours where people are our business; an award like this one show that we practice what we preach.
“We have set the benchmark for good health and safety practice among our staff and contractors and these are the people who deserve to be celebrated - so a huge thank you to everyone involved.”
The British Safety Council is a charity and one of world’s leading advocates of workplace health and safety operating in more than 50 countries with over 8,000 corporate members. In addition to presenting awards to deserving organisations, the Council offers a range of internationally validated audits and qualifications to members with the goal of helping companies raise their health and safety standards.
